Parents Graduate from District Education Program

Seven parents from our elementary schools and the community recently graduated from a six-session parenting class that used the Active Parenting Now model for children ages 5 to 12 years old. The course ran for six consecutive weeks and covered such topics as parenting in the 21st century, responsibility, discipline and building self esteem. The course was co-facilitated by Family Support Counselor Dannette Coston and Hawthorne School Outreach Counselor Colette Brantley. This program was run as a pilot. Due to its success it will be offered again during the 2010-2011 school year.
