Community, School Board Meet to Chart Future Course

About 100 members of the Teaneck community came together at Teaneck High School last night with the Board of Education, administrators and teachers in a three-hour forum created to make an excellent school district even better.

The program began with a welcome from Board of Education President Dr. Henry Pruitt. Superintendent of Schools John F. Czeterko provided a detailed update on initiatives in the Teaneck Public Schools. Dr. Pedro Noguera, nationally renowned educator, then gave the keynote address. Attendees then broke into subgroups to individually identify “What’s Good about the Teaneck Public Schools?” and “Areas of Concern about the Teaneck Public Schools.” Each group reached consensus on three top priorities in each area and then presented their findings after the larger group reconvened. During the summer, the Board and administrators will examine the group’s recommendations and develop action plans.

A follow-up meeting will be held in the fall of 2008.
